However, there’s always room for improvement. It’s not enough to tweet, post and repeat; there’s a lot happening online you need to know about regarding social media updates for business.

Just like networking, listening builds relationships. When referring to “listening” in a social media context, we are talking about monitoring your social media. Take a good look at what people are saying about your brand online. Are they contacting your business directly through Facebook or Twitter? Or are they complaining about your product or service on other sites? Listen to what they’re saying and respond accordingly. This engagement helps build lasting connections and shows you care about what your customers have to say.
What’s better than social media? Social media and email marketing! Integrating these two important marketing tools provide a powerful boost to your brand success. Email campaigns allow you to stay in front of your customers, while adding a “Visit us on Facebook” or “Follow us on Twitter” message leads them to your social media campaigns. On the flip side, your social media can be used to tease your upcoming email campaigns and you can place email content onto your social media pages. Doing so provides additional opportunities for people to share your content with potential customers who might never receive emails from you. Think of social media and emails as a way to double dip your marketing messages.
Your social media team is important. And, so is your budget. So if you cannot afford to have a team, make sure at least one person is your designated social media driver. Have them work with marketing to create a social media strategy that uses specific social networks to their maximum potential. Throughout the day, make sure time is allotted to monitor, post updates and fresh content and respond directly to comments. Have someone create unique, lively content such as blogs, photos and videos to reflect your brand message. Most important – keep the engagement going – that’s how your brand gains valuable attention!
