Star’s Corner: Your Journey to Self-Discovery

star

Discovering yourself takes time. Look at who you were ten, or even 20 years ago. You’ve grown, you’ve learned, you’ve evolved.

There have been many times in my life and throughout my career when I’ve stopped to ponder… Who am I? Is this where I’m meant to be? I’ve always aspired to be a force for positive change and now I stand confidently in the path God has created for me, and harness that passion to be a leader and advocate for women. I use my voice to take action, give back and create awareness of issues affecting the lives of women and girls throughout our communities and the world.

As President of NAPW, I lead an incredible network of like-minded professional women who support, encourage and inspire each other to aim high and follow their dreams. I believe that passion for what you believe in places you on a path to happiness and success.

If you’re trying to figure out what your passion is or where you are meant to be, try these tips. They’ve helped me in my own journey to self-discovery.

Look Within
Do some soul searching. Your passion is an extension of yourself. Only YOU have the power to fully understand who you are.

Stay Honest
Keep it real! Stay grounded to your principles and don’t assimilate to others’ expectations. It’s all about truth, self-ownership and individuality.

Rise Above
Once you find your passion and start walking in your purpose, expect adversity. Conjure the strength to rise above the challenges and forge ahead.

Be Open
Always keep your mind open. Be aware of new opportunities and willing to experience the untried. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone.

Find Support in Your Network
Your NAPW network is here and ready to lift you up! Connect at Local Chapters events or sign up for over eChapter – our next eChapter event is July 27.

Life is a journey. Trust the journey, even if you don’t always understand it—difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations.

Good luck on your own personal quest! xoxo

It was difficult for even me to believe that I would find my life’s passion through retirement. Once I had and seized the time to know the deeper truths of myself, I then gained clarity about my desire to give back and to help others also identify their passion and purpose. I established my platform through writing and publishing my book “Return to Joy: A Thousand Tiny Steps.” I also faced my fear of technology and established my website, which I am now learning to expand and extend. Next, I joined Toastmasters (and am now President of our Club) to further hone and develop my speaking and leadership skills in order to prepare myself for opening doors and opportunities. It’s been one opportunity after another since I became open to the unlimited possibilities our abundant universe brings my way. I have never known such joy-filled purpose and awaken each morning eagerly anticipating the day’s events.
