Vanderbilt: The economy doesn’t affect my industry at all.
NAPW:Complete the following sentence: If I had all the money in the world, I would …
Vanderbilt: I would make sure there are no longer homeless people or hungry children.
NAPW: Name an example of when you were able to contribute to a team project.

In my private life, I was on the board of a nonprofit that provides housing for the elderly and disabled. The board is a team that runs the nonprofit. I’ve been on this team for 12 years.
NAPW:What does your company do to contribute to its employees’ professional development?
Vanderbilt: My company is a one-woman show. I have had an accounting and tax prep business for many years while also working full-time jobs until I retired in 2014 from the University of Wisconsin. Plus, my new e-commerce website is also run from my home with no employees.
NAPW: What are some job search tips you can share with fellow members seeking employment?
Vanderbilt: It has been at least 25 years since I’ve looked for a job and I think things are a lot different now compared to back then. The only tip I would have is to make sure your Facebook account is clean of anything an employer would frown on.
