Ruth Garcia-Corrales
President, NAPW Los Angeles Local Chapter
PR & Community Affairs Manager for Curacao

A call in April 2009 changed my life. This inviting call informed me of the need for professional women to connect and learn from each other. They explained to me that there were other women in need of a forum to bond, where they could develop leadership skills, have a place to exchange new ideas and to mentor and to be mentored. I had to sign up; I had to be part of that amazing ideal.

Today, several years after that call, I can say, the ideal is real. We celebrate the success of our members, we embrace friendship and we elevate our personal and professional goals to reachable levels. Every day we learn from each other because we believe that “learning is earning.” The dedication, camaraderie and support we receive from each other in our businesses and personal lives is extremely valuable and surpasses all of our expectations. Together we are stronger because we unite our intellectual capital, our expertise and our unique experiences to guide, inspire and connect with each other. If you need a financial advisor, a lawyer, a social worker, a doctor, a therapist, a web designer, we have them. You are not alone! We stand together so that we stand stronger.

We spend time together getting to know each other and learning about one another’s businesses and pursuits. Every month we have breakfast or dinner — we have learned that breaking bread together connects us – the simple act of sharing a meal together provides a level of informality which promotes eagerness to get to know one another and share our expertise, knowledge and friendship. The networking power of NAPW is so diverse and rich in different cultures that every time we get together we have members and guests from all over the world coming to share their stories while embracing all things new and different – helping us all expand the depth of our personal and professional lives.

NAPW is committed, dedicated and passionate in its support for its members; it brings back the concept of the village where we all work for one common goal, together, striving and working to make a difference in our own lives and the lives of others for the betterment of everyone. It’s where we are part of a team, with goals to achieve great success on many levels — one day we are fundraising for the American Heart Association, the next we are having a social event for networking fun.

I made the decision to take action in my life, to join NAPW and be part of a successful team which brings out the best in all of us!

As one of NAPW’S “new kidsI am on the block”, I am meeting America’s Women who are inspiring me with their stories and commitment to their Cause — be it a Business or an Organization… I am impressed with the Meetings… the Friendship.. and the Talent of so many…
Ruth’s Message.. her Beliefs.. and her Commitment to NAPW is another inspiring story in my “book of stories”…
Thank you, Ruth — you are terrific…

I am the Director of a Real Estate School and also teach pre-license Real Estate Training. I’m very interested in
getting involved in a women’s group. My husband is also in Real Estate and we took quit a hit 4 years ago and
we’re still trying to pull financial issues together. My point being I think I could offer a lot to your group but
    my finances are very tight.
