Support the LGBT Movement
with NAPW’s St. Louis Chapter
Fairness and equality for all . . . That’s the mission of the Human’s Right’s Campaign (HRC) which envisions a world where LGTB people are ensured equality and embraced as full members of society at home, work and in every community. St. Louis Chapter President Hania Bednarski and her team of professional women support the same mission and focus their Chapter meeting on LGBT pride. An inspiring representative from the National Board of Governors for HRC is featured to speak about her role on the Board and how NAPW members can get involved in the movement.
Some Food for Thought…
Hunger Awareness with NAPW’s Newport News, VA Chapter
This data is difficult to digest: In 2013, hunger in America effected 45.3 million people in poverty, including 14.7 million children under the age of 18. Newport News, VA Chapter President Marlo Calloway hosts an important meeting for NAPW members to discuss how to stamp out hunger in their local community. The meeting features the Food and Fund Drive Manager of the Peninsula Food Bank, a community leader in providing food to residents across the Virginia Peninsula. NAPW members and guests are invited to donate canned foods or meetup together and shop for items to donate. Their goal is to collect 800 pounds of food donations.
Take a Field Trip to Girls Inc.
with NAPW’s Birmingham, AL Chapter
Strong, Smart and Bold! The NAPW Birmingham Chapter is going on a field trip . . . No permission slips needed! Chapter President Leigh Ana Amerson and her team venture out to their local Girls Inc. to learn more about the organization and its mission to provide girls with a safe environment where they can play, learn and grow. NAPW members inspire, learn and empower one another to succeed, and continue to make a difference in the lives of women and girls through service, sisterhood and self-help.
Marketing to the New Power Segment
with NAPW’s NYC Chapter
Lead, Support and Succeed! NYC Chapter President Louise Newsome leads her team for an empowering event featuring the Founder and President of Target 10, one of the first integrated marketing agencies to specialize in LGBT consumers. NAPW members learn how to take their businesses to the next level by marketing to “The New Power Segment” and working to leverage and support the LGBT community. Professional women who attend will have the opportunity to “toot their own horn” and share something empowering—for instance—their 30-second elevator pitch or their story of professional success.
Feel the Power of Pride
with NAPW’s Augusta, GA Chapter
In support of LGBT Pride Month, Augusta Chapter President Sue Pellerin and her team of professional women hold a networking meeting that focuses on diversity and inclusion in the workplace and within their community. The meeting will feature special guest speakers from a local LGBT Pride organization who will discuss what they do, and share stories of personal and professional struggles that the LGBT community faces. NAPW members and their guests build a powerful network of support for inclusion and equal rights.
Nourish Your Neighbors
with the NAPW Orlando Chapter
Research from “Hunger in America 2014” shows that 69% of households choose between paying for utilities and paying for food, with 34% making this choice every month!
49 million people, including 16 million children, are food insecure. That’s one in seven US households! Orlando Chapter President Judy Alderson and her team make an impact for malnourished communities by hosting a Silent Auction for Hunger to raise awareness and donations for families and neighbors in need.
Leading the Fight against Hunger
with Our N. Houston Chapter
A network of support! N. Houston Chapter President Kerri Roberson and her dedicated team get involved in helping the fight against Hunger in America. The networking luncheon features guest speaker—Director of Major Gift at the Houston Food Bank—leading a discussion on how to get involved in the cause to volunteer and donate. The Houston Food Bank feeds 800,000 people each year and plans to expand service to the community to 100,000,000 nutritious meals by 2018.
July is Personal Passions and Entrepreneur Month
The professional women of NAPW join together and celebrate their professional successes, goals and personal passions. It’s been said that if you are doing a job that you really love, you would do it for free. When we are truly passionate about what we do, we pursue it and build our success upon it. NAPW members discover and explore what they desire most from their personal and professional lives.
