NAPW Call for Confidence

 Help Raise Funds for NAPW Foundation Partner Dress for Success! 

NAPW defines success as “owning your own power” — to follow your dreams and call for the confidence within yourself to move forward in your life and career.

Join NAPW President, Star Jones; National Director of Chapters, Louise Newsome; CEO of Dress for Success, Joi Gordon; and very special guest Lea Goldman, Features & Special Projects Director, Marie Claire magazine on Monday, June 1, 2015 for the NAPW Call for Confidence. The empowering philanthropic mission of Dress for Success promotes the economic emancipation of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Help raise funds, support the cause and learn about the latest Dress for Success programs and initiatives, and how you can get involved; tips and advice on how to dress for career success and a journey of success shared by a Dress for Success graduate. Additionally, we’ll have a very informative Q&A with Star and fashion expert, Lea Goldman from Marie Claire magazine. As a thank you for joining our Call for Confidence, you’ll receive a special gift from Marie Claire.

We want to extend a big THANK YOU to everyone who attended our Power Networking Event on April 8th in NYC. The room was packed with hundreds of professional women networking the evening away, exchanging ideas, sharing business cards and making powerful connections for career and business success.

with Our NAPW Columbus Chapter

Stay healthy and happy with Columbus Chapter President Louise A. Elliott and her team of professional women at a Stress Wellness Awareness event, featuring an expert health advisor, chiropractor and acupuncture specialist, discussing the impacts of bad stress on the body and exploring alternative health science treatments to stabilize emotional imbalance. NAPW members learn productive ways to manage stress, and understand how stress affects their overall health with this informative event.

Build A Good Defense
with Our NAPW Madison Chapter

Strength, Awareness, Empowerment! Madison Chapter President Lori Heffernon and her team hold a fun day of learning and safety with an empowering self-defense class at a local Hwa Rang Do Center. NAPW members learn how to protect themselves from becoming victims of sexual assault. Instructors discuss early warning techniques such as identifying and recognizing signs, and teach hands-on self-defense training. NAPW professional women have the power to strengthen their bodies, sharpen their minds and protect themselves.

with Our Western Milwaukee Chapter


Western Milwaukee Chapter members learning how to live a stress-free lifestyle 

Leave your worries at the door! Western Milwaukee Chapter President Lesley Poberezny and her team hold a hypnotherapy relaxation session, featuring a special guest hypnotist discussing the importance of stress awareness and stress management techniques for mind and body relaxation. Professional women learn healthy breathing exercises, relaxation methods and also have the opportunity to meet local NAPW members in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.

Raising Sexual Assault Awareness
with Our NAPW DeKalb-Gwinnett Chapter

Frightening Fact: Atlanta ranks among the top human trafficking hubs. Dekalb-Gwinnet Chapter President Kim Y. Dildy and her team of professional women gather to address the local and global human trafficking situation at their monthly Chapter meeting, featuring an outreach specialist and legal advocate to present on the topic. The meeting spotlights Touch Me Not Inc., a grassroots nonprofit organization that advocates for victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse. Through awareness and education, Chapter members share what they learn with other members and women in their community. Together, we are a powerful force against
sexual assault!


Managing the “Stress Effect”
with Our NAPW Simi Valley Chapter

Get by with a little help from your friends! Simi Valley Chapter President Carolyn Philmon holds an informative gathering with Local Chapter members to share personal and professional challenges, stressors and techniques for effective stress management. The guest speaker is an NAPW member who is also a nurse psychotherapist, consultant and educator. She discusses common symptoms, causes and signs of stress; physical and mental effects; healthy tips and exercises and knowing when to seek professional support. NAPW professional women manage the “stress effect” together for personal and professional success.

with Our Wichita Chapter


Wichita Chapter members learning the facts about sexual assault

Equip, Empower, Educate!  Wichita Chapter President Linda Shinogle and her team of motivated professional women host an educational meeting to raise sexual assault awareness. The meeting features a powerful presenter discussing information and facts about sexual assault, and offering advice to women on how to protect themselves. There will also be a special guest speaker – a retired military combat veteran and successful business owner – providing empowering demonstrations of self-defense and safety products for women. Members learn situational awareness strategies and self-defense techniques, collectively building an NAPW Shield of Defense!


More Money, Less Stress
with Our Pembroke Pines, FL Chapter


Pembroke Pines Chapter members empowered to achieve stress-free success

Don’t stress it! Pembroke Pines Chapter President Sylvia Doane-Ward and her team hold a financial Stress-ucational event, featuring special guest and financial expert, Jan Knight, Fort Lauderdale Chapter President, discussing the importance of raising stress awareness for women and sharing healthy financial lifestyle tips. NAPW members learn healthy ways to manage their finances for personal and professional success. Good advice is priceless!


On-Campus Conversations
with our Forest Hills Chapter


Forest Hills Chapter members and student attendees discuss campus assaults

Did you know: One of every five college students experiences sexual assault during their college career?

Forest Hills Chapter President Anjali Chugh and her team partner with a local City University to host a seminar on Sexual Assault Awareness. Special guest speakers include a sexual assault awareness advocate from a nonprofit organization, and a registered nurse practitioner, providing a safe haven for candid discussions that include tips to prevent assault and what to do if you or someone you know is victimized. NAPW Chapter members, young women from the university, professors and staff have the power to bring awareness and change within the local community to end sexual assault once and for all.


Make a Difference in Denim
with Our NAPW Augusta Chapter

Put your blue jeans on! Sexual assault is a very serious public health problem that affects millions of women in the United States. Augusta Chapter President Sue Pellerin and her NAPW team host a “Recycle Your Denim” event for Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Professional women of NAPW donate their slightly-worn jeans to a local Salvation Army Kroc Center and hold a Yard Sale, with proceeds going to victims of sexual assault. Giving back to the community and helping women and girls in need is truly inspiring!


Let’s Get Physical…
May is Physical Fitness and Sports Month

Spring is in the air – this means more outdoor activities and opportunities to get moving! NAPW members empower each other to stay active and healthy with exercise and a proper nutritional diet. Physical fitness increases brain function, maintains heart health and makes you feel good – so make yourself and your health a priority! By working together, professional women power up their health and spread the word about fun ways to get physically fit.
